GATHER DINNER :: GERMANTON, NC
As so many connections do, this lovely adventure came about via an Instagram friendship turned real life friendship with the sweet and talented Emma, of Emma Kathryn Photography. We met one afternoon for smoothies and to swap head shots and before the evening was over we had hatched a plan to host a photography gathering that fall. We wanted the focus to be on friendship and fellowship, with everything being as cozy and homey as possible. Emma’s parents opened their gorgeous historic home to our project and both dove in as if it was a dream of their own to host 10+ young ladies for an evening of photography.
Emma’s dad made the farm tables and strung up the market lights. Her mom cooked us a hearty, delicious, home-cooked meal and helped with styling everything.
After months of planning it was extremely rewarding to sit around their kitchen table and share a meal with so many beautiful, passionate souls. Gold plated forks clinking on antique floral china. Glass goblets singing with numerous cheers for new friends and an evening filled with love and encouragement. Afterwards we sat around the fireplace and talked for a couple of hours. It was absolutely perfect. One of those nights you look back on and can still see in your mind the way the lights danced on the flatware while we ate. Can still smell the faint burning of the wood fireplace. Can still hear the laughter of 10 new friends as they rush out into the dark to play with a new flash technique Jessi of Wild June Photography was showing us.
Be kind. Work hard. Say hello to strangers.
